OLD LUMBER MILL REMODEL

The homeowner sought a new home that would bring her closer to her grandchild in the city of Sonoma.  She found an existing residence with a unique history: dating to 1904, the property had once been part of a commercial lumber yard that operated through the 1950s.

Our design approach builds upon the character and history of the existing home while adapting it to the needs of contemporary living.  The project includes a remodel and addition, introducing a new primary suite, a welcoming entry structure, and new dormers at the existing roof.

The landscape plays an equally important role in creating the home's sense of place.  The owner collaborated with Magrane Associates Landscape Design.  New planting beds and trees were carefully established to feel as though they have long belonged to the property.

Completed in 2025
